The doc says the power steering by Armstrong in my '66 F-100 has got to go. It is tearing my shoulders up again, but I'm stuck, because I have all the goodies to put in p/s except the right steering column.
I've got a 3 on the tree. If I use the Ford p/s box, I must change the column. Unfortunately, the only p/s columns I can find are for automatics - and I can't afford to cchange to an automatic etc etc.
John Wilker, Dennis and William have been looking for a p/s manual shift column for me for awhile now, and I've been looking for several years - to no avail.
If I understand correctly, the Bendix p/s box will mate correctly to the manual shift steering column.
Is this correct?
Is the p/s pump the same for the Bendix sector?
Where can I get a rebuilt Bendix sector?
What other years was the Bendix used on, so I can get around the "we don't go back that far" routine?
Any other considerations?
John I haven't been up there in a while but *** Salvage in Elm City NC had three yet unpulled for $75.00 ea. Elm City is off I-95 north of Rocky Mount. They are out there.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
The Bendix was used from Nov '66 to mid '69. I found mine at a steering specialists' shop. He managed to find all the necessary parts to rebuild it, but warned me that the Bendix was not very durable. I wanted a 'correct' restoration so I went with it. It works fine. The pump, brackets etc. are standard FE stuff. Get all the spacers and nuts and bolts. When installed as original, the belt goes from the crank pulley to the pump only - not around the fan pulley. You might find that you need the crank pulley too, to allow the belt to clear the lower hose.

BP, I'm thinking you could make one. The shift tube and column cover can be shortened and re welded, and the steering shaft can be shortened at the bottom and the flange rewelded. Ford welded this originally. Add some new bearings, some white grease and you should be in business.
