Sadly I find myself in a situation similar to PHXKELLER's having to give up my new truck for the sake of financial reasons. Got the word last week at work that the company I work for is expecting a major slowdown here shortly and there is no way I can swing a major house payment along with a truck payment. So here I am doing something I never thought I would do. I'm gonna have to get something used till I can improve my situation.
I'm in the electrical trade. I mean this job should last a few more months but it looks bad after that. I could try and wait it out but I don't want to be in a do or die situation. I posted an ad in the classifieds here on FTE, so maybe someone around this site could pick up a good truck. Who knows the way it is going in the middle east we all might be walkin soon.
Is that the shale oil operation where they're desperately looking for tradesmen and pay salaries around $100K. Of course the negative is having to live in the middle of nowhere..... Still, might not be bad for a couple of years....
not much different around me. the v10 is parked at level ten most of the time and just used as a tow truck. while i drive a used kia rio i picked up around town or to and from as needed for treatments, or the motor cycle. both get 40 mpgs and help out big time.
heck we figured out it takes a gal to go each way from home to shop and back at $3.259 a gal. thats about 29 cents a mile just for gas .plus insurance and such. maybe a cost of about 70 cents a mile with NJ haveing one of highest insurance costs in the country. big trucks are not much longer in my pocket either. you just might find another super sweet running super duty the same way. going, going, gone! at a loose
