Bugshield Potential Paint problems??

I want to put on an autventshade bug deflector but I am a little nervous because it mounts between the grill and the hood. Won't this wear the paint on the part that contacts the hood?

I did have one on a Tundra that mounted the same way and it wore the heck out of the paint right above the grill where the ventshade touched.

Wink

Use tacky back felt between the edge of the hood where the brackets touches the hood. Good luck.

I hate bugshields. It used to buy the for all my trucks but I noticed more bugs on my windshied after installing them. I dont have any nicks on the frontof the hood. Im going with the plastic 3m stuff.

I have an OEM low profile bugshield. It has 2 stand-offs to keep it off the paint outside of the grill area.

Sure the shield is mounted between the grill and hood, but as long as it is tight, you should not have any problems.

I've had my truck up 90 mph and the shield does not move. If it did not have the 2 stand-offs, I could see that it would flap outside of the grill area and rub the paint.
