Cool Side mirror hell

Hey, so i have the luck tonight!
Someone smacked my driver window with their car while driving down the road, breaking the glass.

Alarm went off, they peeled away, before i knew it, they were gone, and i'm stuck with a broken mirror.

Now i'm assuming it might be cheaper to replace this myself if possible. Looks like i can buy the whole mirror assembly on ebay for ~70 dollars.

i have the heated blinking mirrors, does anyone have an instructions or ideas of how to get these off?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

I sold my mirrors on ebay off my lariat. They had heat/signal/power. I got $150 for the drivers side and $190 for the pass. side. You might get lucky or even find an aftermarket one for around that. I got the Ford oem towing mirrors with chrome covers and they had all those options plus running lights like on the superdutys for 300. Check my picture galley. Good luck

Yes, You have to take the door panel off. I have instructions from the replacement handles I installed on how to due that. Somewhere I think I still have the instructions from the replacement mirrors. Anyways after the panel is off its held on with three nuts and has one electrical connector. I could fax it to you if you have access to one. My scanner is not working or I could email it to you. Send me a fax # (edited) I can fax it friday if you need it.

pop off the speaker grille and remove the door speaker. also pry up on the window switch plate and there are 2 or 3 bolts in there to remove. Then remove the screws on the bottom of the door panel and then it should slide up and off. Then you'll have access to the mirror bolts.

You can get a new mirror (heated/pwr/signal) for around $90 either on ebay or on the online discount Ford parts websites. Whoever paid $150 and $190 for those used mirrors is a freakin moron!

Maby so Check out my old auctions 8070010370, 8070008850. I only seen aftermarket ones For around $100 on there with them options.
http://www.fastpartsnetwork.com/ Check here I just found out about this place. It might help save some money.

When removing the door panel there is also a screw under the cover that's under the handle and after the speaker grill and speaker are removed the two top speaker mount post will need removed. Use needle nose pliers to pull them out.

oh yeah, forgot about them, it's actually the two bottom speaker mount posts you want to remove, because they get in your way when you slide the door panel back on.

I had to buy a new pass. mirror last year and I know I paid around $90. but now it looks like the price went up to $110-115.

Thanks for the replies.

I talked to the dealership this morning and they said they can replace the glass for 45 dollars including labor. So i'm just going to have them do it.

Word of advice, fold the mirrors in!!!

Cool, I didn't think that would have been possible. Especially from the dealer.
