1988 F250 4x4 i need to replace the radiator support rusted out on bottom. Looking for insight about what would be fair price to replace this at a body shop.
Also issue with the support bracket that is riveted to the frame. It is rusted pretty good, would it be better to get one from junk yard and bolt it on or just weld 1/4 steel around it and drill out for bushings. Any help appreciated.
my 89 rad.support did the same thing. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has a replacement for $150.00. They come in black primer. Scuff it with a maroon scotchbrite, blow it clean, apply wax&grease remover, and paint it. It's fairly hidden with the fenders, rad., and grill, so perfection isn't mandatory, unless it's a show truck. My two cents.
Not sure what is riveted to the frame. Depends on the condition of the rubber bushings on the bottom where it bolts to the frame. If the support is rough there may not be much to save. I found that they were expensive for what you got.I salvaged mine, new bolts and washers from hardware store and cleaned up the rubber bushings to avoid the extra expense. I am thinking around 3-4 hours for a professional depending on how much rust is on the stuff that has to to be removed.
