The tip can make a difference. The data sheet from the paint supplier should tell you what tip is recommended for what you are spraying and also the pressure .You might be able to get the info off the net at the paint manufactures web site.

Mississiuga is correct. The tip size is important for proper atomization.
Most paint manufacturers have recommended sizes in their data sheets.
As I recall most Euro modern paints call out .14 mm for color and
top coats..and up too .18 mm for heavy pigmented base coats.
