I Have A 97 Awd With A Brand New Engine And A Brand New Transfer Case-the Van Came Without A Module Under The Seat- I Assume Because The Transfer Case Was Acting Up- I Installed One From A 92 Awd In The Junkyard And I Get A Flashing Awd Light-assuming The Transfer Case Is New As Are The Sensors That Came With It Do I Need To Change The Module? Are These Specific To Year? Do I Need A 1997 Module ? Aside From The Dealership Are There Any Aftermarket Sources? Also It It Okay To Run Without This Module For Extended Periods?
You can run without the module and still have AWD. What you will not have is operation of the clutch that locks the center differential in the transfer case if a wheel should spin.
I don't know if the modules are year-specific, but I do recall there being a change to the transfer case around '92/'93, so there are probably early and late ones anyway. So having the appropriate control module is probably a good place to start. Beyond that, assuming the new components are working properly, as is the control module, maybe you have a damaged or disconnected wire in the harness?
BTW, a little punctuation and not capitalizing every work will make your post a lot easier to read...
