Leveling kit

I just had a 2 inch leveling kit installed about 4 days ago like the look but, noticed more bounce and vibration over every bump and can feel it in the steering wheel now. The truck is brand new only 1,700 miles on it 4x4 reg cab STX.

Kind of lost that nice factory ride it had. Has anyone else noticed this after installing a kit? I do have the cheap General tires on the truck. Hoping that this is some of the cause. Thanks for any info.

I experienced the same thing, but the level look is worth it.

It was a 2 inch leveling kit from Summit Racing. Just two spacers. I agree the look is worth it, more like the Tonka Truck Ford promised a while back.

I wish Ford would level it from the factory. I never did like the nose heavy look. I wonder if heavier shocks, and better tires might take some of the vibration away?

Did you have the front end aligned after leveling kit installation?

Everything aligned and tightened down. Vibrations not all that bad, but noticeable. For those that have experienced the same thing, I was wondering if it got any worse over time.

I know that the General tires on it which are made by continental can create vibration, but it is suspect that it started doing this right after the leveling. I really love the look, but hope the vibration through the steering doesn't get any worse.

rotate the tires. If the viberation does not change than it is not the tires.

I did not notice any ride difference with my kit.

I had the tires rotated when installed, hmmm maybe that started some of it. I'll give it a while, then rotate back. Other than shifting the center of gravity towards the back can't see any other reason for the change everything is tight, and in place it used all of the factory bolts ect. Thanks for the feedback.

A Trade Off

This has come up on several past threads and many people, including myself, have the same results and same disappointments you have. It seems it is a trade off- the more agressive looks for the comfortable ride. As much as I like the look, I regret installing my leveling kit, I preferred that smooth ride my truck originally had.

Which type of leveling kit did you use? I have the autospring 2.5" kit and honestly I can tell no difference in the ride. The kit was also the least expensive and easiest to install kit of all the kits I looked at.

I think that’s true, anytime you mess with the stock setup, at least in most cases. I'm also planning to go to a slightly larger tire. I'm sure when I do I'll loose my good gas mileage, great acceleration, and smooth shifting the 4.6 is giving me now.

It has the 3.55 rear. I traded in a 5.4 Navigator with a 3.73 gearing and I can't see much difference in the power. I feel slightly less torque, but not that much difference. I just touch the peddle even with the air on, she pulls me up steep hills just fine.

The dealer installed a basic Daystar brand kit for me. I wish I could say my results were as good as yours.
