Air Conditioner Pump

I have an AC pump that has no belt and probably has no fluid.. and i wouldn't use it even if it was hooked up, so i want to get it off to clear up some space and make it less cluttered in there.

Is there anything special I have to worry about when removing it? Are the lines under pressure and what do I do with the lines after i remove them from the pump??

Yes, if the System still has it's charge, the lines will be under pressure. Furthermore it probably contains R-12, or something similar, which is illegal to vent into the air. You might try and find out if it has a charge and what type it is, R-12 is worth a lil money because it’s illegal to produce it now a days, not a lot, but a little. Also, The compressor might be worth something too, I remember reading something about people turning specific types of compressors from around then into onboard air compressors.

Once the compressor is removed, the Graveyard and others have a "bypass" pulley that will allow you to continue to use the belt you have.

Then feel free to skip the whole idea of bypass pulley... I neglected to realize we were talking about a 78.

I always found it too much of a pain to bottle freon, I would just take the line loose, cause a truck that old probly has leaks and I'm willing to bet it doesent have much left anyway.
