I just lifted my truck and have an odd vibration at about 70-75 and am not sure if it was the tires or what. I am going to be putting on a set of new tires in the next couple of weeks and I will see it that fixes it.
My 05 PSD 4x4, has the same problem, going forward or in reverse, one wheel on pavement the other in grass or gravel, one tire will spin! Do I have a problem with the differentials?
Try it with no additive first. I tried it on my 2005 and it works much better and no chatter without the additive. Just make shure you buy full synthetic lube. You can always add modifyer later but you can't take it out after you put it in unless you change the fluid again and that could get expensive!
I am going to change my gear lube this week I am going with Royal Purple with no modifier I let you all know how it works out . Right now I can lay four strips of rubber on dry road so I know my LS is working good. I just bought the truck after Christmas so I am just making sure everything is up to date.
Am I understanding correctly? My problem maybe resolved with changing the gear lube? What is the significance of using synthetic? Do you have to get the additive from a dealer or can it be purchased from other parts stores?

What you are going to find is that with a DRW and a Dana LS without modifier it will act just like a full positaction rear end. I have had to add more modifier after 30K on my last change to stop if from jumping around. And it has had no affect on the way it works. I also had a LS in my F350 SRW and it didn't work near as good as the DRW.

Very true... even with a Ford Traction-Lok, they are very weak with the recommended amount of additive, but if you don't put ANY in, bango - more traction.
But a lot more vibration, noise, chatter, etc.
There is a fine-line where you get rid of MOST of the chatter, but still get good lock-up. My Sterling is as 4oz out of 8 right now, and I get a bit of chatter. But I don't care because it actually locks up much more now. Not 100%, not as good as an Auburn, but it's better, and all it cost me was changing the fluid. Which is a LOT with synthetic. (Sterling 10.5" requires synthetic).
