I am currently on my 2nd 250 SD...the first was a '00, now I'm in an '02. Both have had problems with the door switches (?) sticking.
The problems I curerntly have are these:
1. Door ajar light stays on
2. Auto headlights do not come on
3. Ford factory keyless entry (key fob, not push button) doesn't work.
4. dome light does NOT come on when door open.
5. Radio does not shut off when door opened.
Here's the question....after all the issues on my '00 with these switches, I have been lubricating the '02's fairly heavily. Now, would ALL of the above symptoms be related to a door switch finally crapping out??
Just curious, before I end up taking it to the dealer and having a HUGE repair bill.
I have a 2002 Duty too and it has the same problems. I got the supercab that the rear doors are suiside and i just went to the dealership today becuase of other problems im having and they said its the switches are bad in them. She said the switches are 100 bucks to replace. My ajar light wont go off and my dome light stays on, really annoying when your trying to back out a girls driveway after a date and u cant see where u going lol. But i hope this helps.
It's NOT lubrication, ya gotta use an electrical cleaner. A lot of Ford products have this same "DOOR AJAR" problem. You gotta use WD40 and spray the door latch (liberally) mechinism on all doors. Open and close doors numberous times. If the light STILL doesn't go out, spray again and close doors. Go inside, have a beer or a six pack. Sleep on it and then check next morning. It SHOULD have gone out by now. If this doesn't work, time to take it in to dealer and let him throw parts at it..... good luck. BTW, the WD40 worked for me on my '97 Lincoln Mark VIII.
