I have to add to this thread, I love my 05 F250 Lariat CC PSD Torqueshift, FX4 LB. This truck never ceases to amaze me. I have had the truck for almost two years (picked it up in September of 04) and don't get to drive it as much as I would like. Just now it is approaching 21,000 miles, no engine problems just a couple of dumb recalls.
My brother has an 04 F250 Lariat CC PSD with 91,000 miles, no engine problems, just recalls and exhaust backpressure sensor failures. The last emission recall stopped monitoring the backpressure sensor since no one can make a component that will last.

Ford put a PROGRAM in the truck! Do you realized there is a 90% chance it will blow a head gasket now!!
The Bullitt took some time off making the 430hp stock long-block to 650hp built motor upgrade. Everything is sorted out now and I'm going to be at the track every chance I get. I also enjoy taking it up to Valdosta to South Georgia Motor Sports track. That is a VERY nice facility.
hahaha on the 90 % deal you guys got me there. i was not being negative by the way. i did not say all programmers are bad. i just wanted to put that out there. i have heard people cuss these trucks due to tuners and we fix them under warranty for free to these jerks all because they were "unaware". these are great trucks dont get me wrong but most of the trucks i see pop head gaskets mainly have tuners. i drove a truck with a unknown tuner without a monitoring system on it and it waas boosting 38 psi. that is why these trucks blow head gaskets. and yes i know turbos stick and cause problems but anyway. it was just a simple warning. that is all
I've driven the car down the track several hundred times. But I think the car would need to be a little quicker for me to consider myself being a racer
I started this tread many moons ago because I was tired of reading negative stuff about my new purchase. The truck is now just under a year old and has 31,000 miles on it and has had Zero problems. Never even been back to the dealership. It's had a performance SCT tune in it all this time. 16+ MPG towing my car/trailer. 18-22 MPG on the road depending on how fast I push it. And I don't mean 55mph either! I LOVE the truck and have no idea how I lived 50 years without one. It's been a lot of trouble-free fun.

These are actually Jerry Wroblewski tunes. I think Matt will tell you J is a pretty good tuner too. I think Matt went to the Diesel school at SCT. If so, J was the instructor. I also deal with Tony Gonyon at HP Performance. He doesn't do as much Diesel stuff but still is pretty accomplished and also went through J's Diesel course at SCT when they released the Advantage 3 software. I have the SCT Pro Racer package that I use to tune my stangs but I also bought the TTP1 EEC key to tune my truck with, if I dared. Diesel tuning is not even CLOSE to gas tuning. I just make minor changes to the tune with my TTP1 key.
I'll probably jinx myself now but I like my 04 more and more as the miles pass by. May 04 build, I bought in Oct 04 and 60K the first year with 125K now. I had several cd players replaced early on, tranny recall, power steering pump failure and what Ford says may have been injector probs, and a few oil leaks that don't hit the ground. By far, the frustration I had with some issues was mostly due to service depts that may have not been quite up to speed yet. I've run the s**t out'a mine, stupid things like towing my 34' TT way harder than I or the truck should have, without any gauges. Probably 100K of those miles are skinned back on the interstate hours on end late for the races, loaded running like i'm unloaded. I've added gauges now but comparing my readings to what they must have been then I can't imagine how I haven't had head gasket issues or worse. I think for sure there's something to the thought that they like hard running, mine couldn't get a worse flogging. I've even made it through a period when I had Ford do the upkeep and later I learn they never changed tanny filter or primary fuel filter. First trip for injectors it somehow passed the various tests with a black fuel filter, no more Ford maintanance after that.
