My stack kit got here late yesterday, and I started on it last night, but due to some dead batteries in the drill and sawzall , I had to finish it up today. But, they're done and I like it.
I went with the 5" mitre cut stacks, got the kit off eBay. It was $395 to the door. Quality of the kit is pretty good, but the instructions were pretty poor. It would have really helped if there were some pictures, but I guess we're just spoiled. Once I actually sat down and carefully read the directions, it made sense.
The sound of these things is incredible. I feel like can hear every turbo noise and every pulse of the engine. They're not too loud until you really get on it, then they scream. I have yet to take a long trip with them though, so I don't know what the sound will be like on a highway drive. But, in town it's great.
Oh, and I did roll a bit of smoke out just to see what it looked like. I could obviously only see it in my rearview mirror, but it looked pretty cool seeing the twin trails of black coming down off the truck.
There's pictures in my gallery or in my webshots (link in sig) if you want to take a look.
Wheels are Moto Metals, model 951, 18" variety. Tires are Nitto Terra Grapplers, size 325/60. There is a spring lift on it that was put on before I got the truck, with about 4" of lift in the front and 3" in the rear. But the ride is really rough with all that extra spring, so I'm eventually planning on the DR 4.5" lift kit.
The new noise from my stacks takes my mind off the ride though.
he has add-a-leaves front and rear, and i can tell you firsthand they are rough. i would do something about it if my truck rode that damn rough. (*hint*)
they are MotoMetal951 18" wheels, dont know how wide, with 33" nitto Terragrapplers. im doing the same in the future, but two inches taller and two inches bigger rim.
and it sounds very good at idle and below 1750 rpm. get on it and it sounds "good", but not as good as my previous exhaust i had. i hope it sounds better with the stacks. i know what you are talking about the hearing every noise and turbo whistle galore. i can put up all 4 windows and turn up the radio (that song too ) and still hear the turbo whistling away even as low as 1250.

Well, if I had an extra $1700 lying around, I'd do it. That big contract that fell through this month really put a hurt on some of my plans. The stacks were even out until some other small things came through. The DR lift is definately on my to-do list, but I'm doing some smaller things in the mean time. Billett grille I think is next on the list.
I just see two problems:
1. your sig still says 4" exhaust... time for an update
2. the insides of the pipes are all clean and shiny... I expect to see them pitch black with the outsides getting dirty too, within the week!
I just thought of another benefit of stacks: they probably don't get your truck as soot-stained as a regular exhaust pipe. Always takes me extra time and my sponge gets FILTHY cleaning up the lower rear half of my dually fender and around in that area, since the pipe's right there. I guess it's worth the cleanup for the fun that made it that way, though.

Your new stacks look very nice. I'm liking the look of stacks more and more.
Know for the dumb question - Do you have any concerns about the rain, snow, or some A - hole dropping something down them for kicks.
they were my questions. i dont have much to worry about the rain unless i park it out somewhere when im driving. at home can park in inside and put something else outside if need be. i am worried about someone dropping something down in them. my buddy in Diesel I said he made popcorn one day.
