Exhaust ?

guys, was looking at ordering an exhaust system for my 2001 cc 4x4 PSD. I had some questions:
1) whats the difference in stainless vs. aluminized besides price difference?
2) i'm not by any means an experienced mechanic, but is it an installation I could perform w/o having to go to a mechanic?
3) would a 4 in, or 5 in be more beneficial?
4) is there a certain brand yall would recomend more than others? ( i was looking at the MBRP 4 in turbo back)

thanks for the help fellas

1) - There are stainless grade differences - but more or less a stainless system won't rust, where an aluminized can rust eventually, and WILL rust if you rub the coating off somewhere on the system. (side note - the part of my system that is original 4" (aluminized) I did before stacks, still looks like the day I put it on - no rust yet) AND typically stainless will look a little better too

2) If you have some standard tools, and a helper to help hold the pipes up (especially the DownPipe), there's no reason you can't do the install. A sawzall is VERY handy for chopping up the old system to get it out in minimal time!!

3) NO gain other than a deeper, more badA$$ sound - and claiming membership in the "Canon Club"

4) MBRP? - they make a good exhaust! Just get one from a reputable company - they are much more likely to be a true "bolt on" , without cutting and fitting, than a cheapie system

I installed a magnaflow stainless 4" Trubo back and the AFE stage II intake, everything lined up well then I just did spot welds to hold her all in place. My neighbour has a 5" aluminized it sounds like a military parade coming down the street! Damn...

Another vote for the 5" exhuast. There is no mistaking the sound it makes.

No offence intended, but it sounds like you ended up buying from a "less than best" vendor.
The one that I have fit perfectly up to the point where it needed to go over the rear axle where I found that there simply was not enough room for the 5" exhuast pipe to fit between the top of the axle and the fuel tank. It was no surprise to me because if you ever look around at any vendor that sells 5" exhaust they say "pickup trucks only". I have a chassis cab and it's a whole different animal.
Anyway......... I know that it would have fit perfectly if I had a pickup.
