05 150 4wd problems?
Don't hold your breath. I also had the same prob 4 months ago that was supossed "fixed". Yesterday started having problems again.
I have 05 supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4. This will be the third time I've taken it in for 4 wd problems. First time it is was stuck in 4 wd. Second, I was having the same issues you describe. In 2wd, a sudden high pitch grind that would reduce in pitch as i would come to a stop. About 5 mph to 0, there would be two loud thunks, and off we go again. Dealer was unable to replecate the problem until it became so bad that sometimes i could't go 1 mile without pulling over 2 or 3 times.
Anyway, problem fixed? I guess not. The damn thing is at it again.
Now I'm getting a similar high pitched grind, but alittle lighter weight, in 2wd only when Im givinit throttle. Not coasting in neutral, not coasting in gear, and not in 4wd. I've had it! i'm now at 35,000 miles. This should not happen, I've only used 4wd less than 15 times. I'm only having trouble in 2wd. And nobody gives a **** about the secondary damage that may have been done because of this IWE. Anybody else getting a thrid strike??????
on top of the frame is a vacum hose that goes to the vacum hubs it is covered in a protective plastic webbing it is mounted next to a steel heat shield .the heat from the exhaust manifold has melted this hose just enough to let some vacum escape this causes the vacum hub to grind between being locked and un locked it will vary the noise due to throttle position due to differnt vac on and off of the gas pedal peel back the protective plastic wrap and repair hose.then position hose away from heat shield .vac is applied to hubs in 4x2 and no vac when in 4x4 i have found 2 trucks making this noise both were towing trailers higher exhaust temp hope this helps
