Manual steering gear box

Hello,
I just contacted the Lares Corp for a manual steering gear box for a '70 F-100 2wd. The price quote they gave me is $155 w/exchange. I was just wondering if anyone has purchased anything from them? Are they a reputable company and is that a good price? Yeah, I know, someday I'll get power steering for her. But budget constraints won't let me risk getting a power steering setup and having to repair or replace one of those components. Anyways, thanks in advance for any replies. Joe Osborn (Ozzie)

Ozzie:

I can't speak for that re-builder you mention but have you considered finding a decent used box. I would think there would be many decent manual boxes available in your area. Just a thought.

Rick,
Their website is larescorp.com. I found them through the links page for 61-79 pickups on this website. Hope they have what you're looking for also. Ozzie

Manual steering gear box

I bought a box from Lares corp.last november for my 72 F250 for 225.00. The only other ones i had heard of were about 700.00. I haven't had any problems with it. It comes pre-packed with greese
and its centered. All you have to do is throw it in. I also thought it was a good idea to replace the steering shock at the same time.
So there you go.
