i have a 98 f150 but it has coil springs in the front but they squeak something fierce. if i drive into a drive through ATM or btw two brick buildings with the windows open it is actually loud, almost to the point of being uncomfortably loud. I used to spray oil on it and the sound would lesson for about a week, I think that for me the oil aint gunna work because i periodically will put that part of the truck through some mud and water. Does anyone know what the squeking could be from with coil springs instead of leafs? if so help me out here please.

Check the "isolators" at the top and bottom of the spring (if they're even there), as well as all bushings. You have something worn out and there's metal-to-metal contact somewhere.
As mentioned origionally my truck is a 2002. so shouldn't it have the "Updated" pads? and also if I hold the front mounting of the leaf I dont "FEEL" the squeak but if I hold the rear mount of the leaf I can feel the squeak in my hand. I dont really like the idea of putting motor oil all over and in between the leafs, it sounds like I would have a big greasy mess after a while. maybe some sort of dry type lube or my mounts or bushings may be the prob. i can say that visually looking at the bushings they arent cracked or splitting. could it be that they have just hardend up?
My previous 2002 F250 had a front and rear leaf spring squeak. I also felt it coming from the leaf mounts, so I sprayed a graphite based solvent into the moounts and it quieted them down a whole lot. I tried to stay away from the petroleum based products because they tend to attract dirt over time, which would worsen the problem. I used to give the mounts a spray every once in a while right up until I sold the truck. My new F250 does not squeak at all, so maybe they made some improvements along the way.
Same problem on my 2000. In winter of 2003 replaced the pads under warranty. Was fine in 2004. Squeak came back winter of 2005. Seems to happen only in cold weather. Don't know if they put in the updated pads. How can I tell? Warranty runs out next month. I would like to make sure it will not happen again?
Low mileage on truck, only 50,000 now. Highway driving only.
On my '00, I had the pads replaced between the leafs and that solved the problem. Before that, I used silicone spray between the leafs. That seemed to work only as a short term fix.
I had the same problem with the front springs of my '99 super duty, squeaky front springs. Went to the local ford dealer today and had to talk to several people befor someone found the "fix". There was a TSB on the issue. The fix is a kit of 2 pieces of formed plastic for each of the front spring ends. Installed fairly easy (with proper pry bars and shims to hold springs leaves apart, but be careful doing this) and worked great, no noise, and a better ride .
earlier i posted that i have coil springs in the front that were squeaking. i don't know why i was thinking that because it's not even close to true. i have a '98 4x4 so i obviously have tortion-bar suspention in the front, but it did squeak like an a-hole. and i let my dad take the truck mudding resently and the squeaking went away completely until i cleaned the truck and it came back about 10 times worse. i sprayed the front and back of the tortion bars all the steering joints, and pretty much everything that moves in the front end with wd-40, then i turned the wheel all the way back and forth about 5 or 10 times and the squeaking went away for about an hour and a half then it was back in full force.
my dad thaught that the bushings might be squeaking, but it sounds like metal squeaks to me, but he has been known to be right and i have been known to be wrong.
is it possible that the bushings on the ends of the tortion bar are bad?
well the bushings in your suspension are rather hard material to begin with and over time they will dry out and become harder. it's like when you replace your bushings with polyurethane ones they are even harder and tend to squeak right away. the benefit of poly on less movement and higher strength so they dont crack or deform as easily. I'm not totally familiar with the 150s torsion setup but the cost og the bushing shouldn't be much and they should change real easy.
I replaced the plastic spacers also between front and rear of each front leaf spring. I put a thin layer of wheel bearing grease on them first and did the same to the rubber bushings that attach the sway bar to the axle. I am not sure which cured the sqeaking but I have not had any noise for 4 1/2 months now.
I'll have to look into the pads and greasing etc. my truck hit 100k last month and I swear that it was planned that thing would start going wrong. tranny pump, swaybar links again, both seat heaters quit, dash light for the 4x4 switch(had to rig an LED because they dont sell the bulb), then one of the parking sensors went bad, now ABS light on sometimes. all this in 4 weeks, not a good sign!
