average oil pressure

I drive a 71 f 100 with a non orig. 390 FE. when she first starts oil pressure will be 30-35, after idling for a few minutes it drops to 15-20. when i touch the gas it goes up to 40 . is this normal? what do some of you guys run? thanks--Nick

This is normal, depending on what part of the country you are in or tempure is the factor that determines what oil you use.

Yes this is normal, my 72, 390 does the same thing and I have even put in a high volume pump.
