Can someone please fill me in. I've seen several posts that say these are OEM on the f6/700 but are bolt on additions to the smaller f's. Is this correct? Is there hope for my pocketbook and 59 f100? I have typed my fingers raw looking on the internet with no real leads.
There is a ram assist kit made for the 53/56. I don't know if it would fit your year. You can get details from Mid 50s or Sacremento Vintage parts, where I bought mine.
BTW, I have mine for sale at half price if you ever get interested.
The ram assists should fit any straight beam axle with drag link, they mount to the spring mount and tie rod and the controller replaces the drag link. Flaming River just came out with an electrical power assist that fits between the column and gearbox that doesn't require a PS pump.
Thanks AX, but i'm going to have to pass on Flaming River. The power assist unit doesn't require a pump but it does require a winning lottery ticket! WOW (geezus, mary & joseph)! $3600 bucks is a little (ridiculous) outside my budget just for PS. Great idea though, hopefully someone can get the price down over the next few years for us commoners.
You mean there is a "bolt on" power steering out there for my '56 F600 and my poor not as strong as they used to be arms? Tell me more!
Look in my "Gallery" under "Options" for a look @ the R/A P/S that is a Factory Option for our trucks.
Do you have an I-6 or a Y-Block?
P.M. me if you have s desire to own one.
