Side toolbox gasket

I haven't noticed that anyone has a replacement gasket for the side tool box behind the passenger door under the bed. Mine is shot and presents a water problem. Luckily only surfact rust. Is there a replacement out there or do we have to make our own?

Long story, previous owner removed the tool storage box, but left the door, and installed auxillary fuel tanks. Intend removing auxillary tank and was going to refabricate the storage compartment; fortunately, stumbled across one in salvage yard. Have not been able to find any Ford parts supplier who carry the seal, or weatherstrip. There is a retainer as part of the package with P/N C4TZ-9946108-A for F100, and C4TZ-9946108-B for F250, if interested. I'll be please if able to find the seal. Came up with couple #'s for the seal of C4TZ-9946102-A for the F100, and C4TZ-9946102-B for the F250. Don't recall whether I salvaged the donor storage box from a F100, or F250, so not sure of difference. Probably need to fabricate the seal or keep eye out for suitable replacement. Thought side or rear window seal of simular size, perhaps an econoline could be modified or made to fit. Found ya have to think out of the box when it comes to reconditioning/restoring these vintage trucks. Put project on back burner for now. If come up with anything, will post.

I looked everywhere, hoping that the same seal was used on another Ford product. It wasn't. However, I did find a guy willing to make some from my sample - if I bought 800 feet of it!

The gasket is very simular to the gasket for the rear fender skirt for another vehicle I restored. Different type vehicle (not a Ford), believe item is referred to as fender skirt 'scuff pad'.The catalog I have is several years old, but looks like with little trimming it could pass as suitalble replacement. Ordered a catalog today and will browse to see if decent replacement. I do not have Ford parts catalogs for the earlier Ford vehicle with fender shirts, actually not sure if Ford made fender skirts for their earlier vehicles. Another source possibly restoration specialties Inc. Looking thru outdated catalog, also difficult to tell by looking at picture. Found they carry various types of weatherstrip, various types of rubber, etc. for about every vehicle one can imagine. Just as side note, found when it came to reassembling fenders, grille, emblems, sheet metal, they carried many of the hard to find hardware; i.e., speed nuts, U and J threaded clips, etc. It's been several years ago, seem to recall sending them piece of a seal I was looking for and they were able to find suitable replacement. Will call them next day or so to find out if they still provide that service. Their web site is www.restorationspecialties.com .

To me it looks like a flat section which goes under the outer metal rim/band and then there is a bead showing which supplies the seal for the door. I know I had seen something similiar to this and just realized it is a similiar seal to the pilot's canopy on the TBM. Right in front of my face. Now all I have to do is recall where we obtained that from and see if trimmed down it might work. Of course, I have to remember where it came from years ago...

I have the gasket out of my 66 right now, I painted the truck last year and have not put it back in. But the one that came out had a flat metal 2 piece part with holes in it to screw to the box and a split "O" ring around the out side. I moved to a new place last Oct. and my new shop is not up yet, all the parts for the trucks and my car are still packed away.

check with SoffSeal or Steele Products. They both supply all types of seals for restoration and hot rods.

Placed an envelope in the mail with sample of the seal and sent off to Restoration Specialty. Can't seem to find my Steele catalog, if get a chance will browse their online catalog. Convenient, have not installed the tool storage box yet. Removed the small screws and found do not have the retainers. Had 1 of the seals setting inside the box, believe itis the seal that goes between the bed and the box, and compared to the seal going around the flange inside and found they are the same. If different, would appreciate posting. Should hear something in few days.
