Wiring help needed, radio/clock specific
There's a white wire, with a dark colored stripe (green, brown, or red... color blind here)
I accidently grounded that wire out, and now the clock and radio dont work. I cant find which fuse blew. No smoke, the wire did get warm, but I didnt relise the smoke.
Can anybody tell me what wire that is, where it's located to on the fuse box, and if it's ignition switched, constant, or a dimmer for the lights?
Thanks alot
~Nate
There should be four wires going to the digital clock.
#1: Light Green/Yellow: Courtesy lamp Feed for clock memory.
#2: White/Purple: Accessory feed. Powers the clock. Fuse F-11 in panel.
#3: Black: Ground
#4 is year specific....
On 1980-1981 Only:
#4: Light Blue/Red: Instrument illumination feed. For Clock Faceplate light.
On 1982-1986 only:
#4 Brown: Parking lamp Feed. Clock display Dimmer.
If you are having problems with the wiring here, and your fuses are good, you can unplug the clock harness from the main harness connectors, and or the Warning buzzer, underdash courtesy lamp connectors if applicable and test them them there. They are hooked to the bottom of the dash support.

RADIO:
The Radio power connector can have up to four different colored wires, but may not have all of them...
#1: Yellow/Black: Radio Power Feed.
#2: Light Blue/Red: Instrument ilumination Radio dial inlumination.
#3: Orange: Premium sound. (May or may not have....
#4: Light Green/Yellow: Courtesy light circut for radio memory. (May or may not have)

Hope this helps
It's yellow, with black or green dashes running down the side of it
Checked all the fuses, visually and with my circut tester... all are good

White/Purple is the Clock Feed.
With the ignition on, check to see if you are getting power at those wires with the ignition switch in run, or accessory. If you are, then you most likely blew the radio and/or clock. If not, then you may have burned some wires.
If all else fails, replace the fuses with known good ones, to make sure.
I'll check to see if I have power at the ignition switch.
Tks alot, you really know your stuff on theese old rigs.
