Loose ring on axle

Loose ring on axle
Hello Everyone
I was looking under my truck the other day and I noticed what looks to be a plastic ring hanging from my front axle. Is this a seal of some sort and if so can I just place it back or will I need to remove the axle and replace the seal. If you guys need a picture I can get one tonight, but I dont know how to post it. Thanks a lot.

Yes its a seal ,it helps keep dirt and water from finding its way into the wheel bearing hub.
That cost about $180 for one side.
you need to get it fixed asap
Yes the axle needs to be pulled to replace ,if you have not done it before.I suggest you take it into a dealer.There are a few special tools.
I'm sure we could walk you through it .
There a thread on here about front ball joint replacements. search it out and see if you want to tackle it
