Under Hood Light :)

I guess I must be geting OLD. All those trips to the Junk Yard and Never thought about snatching an under hood light setup.
Just a `TIP` here. I just installed 2 under hood lights on my 72 F-250 (from a Buick) OK I know!!
But what a difference!! wired them to a `Hot` terminal from the Battery. Mounted them so they will be `FLAT and LEVEL` when the hood is closed. As the hood is lifted the lights come on. I`ll never have another truck again without them installed FIRST..

Under Hood Light :)

I did the same thing for my '68 360 F-100. I had a 91 S-10 I took the light from before trading it in on the wife's new car. No signs of organ rejection so far. I like the idea of two lights--one on either side I assume.

Ive got one factory in my 79 Bronco and love it (mostly). Had one problem at a previous rental house. The driveway had a 15 deg incline that the truck parked on, which was enough to turn on the light and kill the battery over time. I installed a manual switch also to solve that problem but Ive also moved since then!

Just one more tip to be cautious of.

Under Hood Light :)

Ford offered a single under hood light on the F-series starting in 1969 if I'm not mistaken.

instead of just using the mercury switch you could put a pinswitch that opens the circut for the merc once the hood is open that would solve the battery drain problems. or you could just use the pinswitch.

I had an 85 F150 that had a light under the hood
with a spring loaded extention cable that had a
magnet on it for changing tires or what ever outside of the engine compartment.
