05 No Under hood insulation?

I just got my new 05 F350 and no under hood insulation. Can 04 insulation be installed in the 05, and does everything clear it O.K. so hood can be closed with no problems?

The 04 part does fit, installed on my 05. I can't say I really noticed any noise difference. Secondary benefits may (unproven) be preventing hood dent if intake hose pops off as well as reduction in spot heating of hood causing paint discoloration.

I would not say that there is any real benefit worth the $70 for the parts. I did not get or install the front or rear seals (not part of hood blanket), these would have been another ~$70.

Well, I figure it is much easier to clean the underside of your hood when coolant and oil is being sprayed everywhere. The underhood blanket just soaks it in!

I also added the hood blanket on my 2005. Not much difference in sound but hoping will keep the hood cooler and the paint in better shape. I did it so everytime my salesman that sold me the truck sees me at the parts counter he asks me if anything is wrong and I can ride him about all of the crap I am having to add that should have been on my truck to begin with. I have also added the glove box light and the door lights as well as the rear fender well liners.

My searches didn't find it, but wasn't there a post some time ago in reference to the noise polution act that the hood blanket was supposed to be installed from the factory on our diesels? My 04 doesn't have the banket either.

Hey JetAct, Do you have the part numbers for the rear fender well liners, door lights, and glove box light? EDITED BY ADMIN Those things should have been included on our $40k trucks!

Yes you would think that those items should have been added to our trucks. They would have probably cost 1/10 of what they cost to buy from Ford if they were installed at the factory.
The Glove box light was easy to install you just take of the hook thingy and scab power off of the cig lighter. You need 2 pieces of wire about 15" long 16 ga. and 2 female tab connectors and 2 wire taps. The part# is E7DZ-14413-A Swith and Lamp should be around $12.00.
The door lights are a little different story there is no real PN for them. It you pop out the light cover on the door you will see what type of light socket you need it is real obvious. If you go to a parts store Autozone, Napa or something like it get a 194 or 163 buld and its holder and that will be right. The rear door if you have a CC you will have to make a holder because there is no real hole like the front. You need to get power from the courtesy sircut that controls your lights in the cab of the truck. On the drivers side in the door sill you under the plastis cover you will find a black with a light blue trace wire. I just got a wire tap and taped into it for power. If you look at my gallery you will see that I also added 3 LED lights to the bottom of my door and ran them off the same power. Just run the power wire to all of the doors through the accordian rubber.
The rear fender liners are:
(2ea) F81Z*9928370*CA Front left and right
(2ea) F81Z*9928370*AA Rear Left and right
(8ea) *389358*S Plastic push pins (2 per piece)

Hmmm; seems that what is not on the '05's is the reason for the aux switches. Hood blanket was not on some '04's and some of us were lucky when we had the dealer include it in on the deal, after delivery. Hopefully a model year in the future will have the extras that we all deem as standard equipment.

Hey Tim you posted the PN for the weather strip, are those supposed to fit the 05. I just got mine and don't have a clue on how and where they are supposed to go. I already have the hood blanket installed but the weather strips don't look like they make sense at all.

Tim, I'm now on a roll. I have figured out the F81Z-16A238-BB (you call it back weather strip holder) I found a web site that you can look up the PN for collision repairs and it explained the part a little better. It calls it a Front Seal Front Hood Lip, so that helped and after taking out all of the pins that hold up the front part of the hood blank it fit. It goes along the front pin line of the hood blanket. For the hood blanket you have 7 pins, I counted 8 holes. For the people that don't get the weather strip and just the hood blanket you will need 16 pins. The weather strip comes with all of the pis in it. As far as the other weather strip I am still stumped and it is also called a front seal above radiator supt 1999-2004. So I will keep looking
