Hi there, just picked up a 96 Explorer and thought I join over here. Site looks great lots of good info.
Newbie question, the seller did not know and did not have the owners manual as well.
The suv has a remote start that almost looks like factory to me, did Ford have that as an option in 96? I was trying to see about a second remote because this one is not looking too good and dont want to go the dealer and wait for nothing.
I will need to get a manual at some point anyway.

I'm not sure if remote start was an option in 96. Does the key fob that it's on also control the doors and alarm? If not, then it may be an add on system. Do a google on 'key fob' and you'll find lots of sites that sell them much cheaper than the dealers. Make sure you read the programming instructions before buying one. Some fobs have to be programmed using special equipment.
