2.9L to 4.0L

2.9L to 4.0L

Yo i have an '88 ford ranger witha 2.9 L V6 and i was wondering if i could fit a 4.0L V6 in there. This is one of the projects in gonna do to it so yeah any advice would be great.

Yeah it should fit no problem, may even use the same mounts. You'll need a 4.0L tranny.

You will need to make a few wiring tweaks, so pull as early a 4.0L truck harness and related electronics as you can find. Earlier = better.

RPS and TRS should have swap notes for you.

Thats a swap worth making, you will need the wireing harness, and computer.

anyone metioned the weaker rear end??? get a mustang 8.8 with postitive trak.. or get one from a ranger (3.08 gears- stock) will prevent ALOT of spining, while i had my engine out i would also considering rebuilding or replacing thatole tranny... but thats me.
