I stripped it!!

The screws to the door speakres...well one screw is stripped because the idiot that I am, mixed up one of the screws for the door for the speakes...Long story short, the door screw is thicker than the speaker screw and now it is loose. Is there anyway to get around this? I dont want my speaker to rattle...Maybe silicone?

Maybe a visit to the "HELP" section of the autoparts store. They may carry a similar sized nylon thread insert. Or the Dealer.

Oorrrr...Option-2 get some 5min. epoxy (Devcon) or liquid plastic (or something similar) and squeeze it in the stripped out insert.
Let it dry and "start" a new hole.

....I think It would be easier to visit the "HELP" section or the Dealer for such a part.. unless your in a hurry.

FInd another screw the same as the door screw. Then put it in the speaker. Doesn't matter if it is bigger or not. Just as long as it holds the speaker ok.

The screws are under the door panel, correct? Who cares what it looks like.

If the speaker is secure then I would just get another door panel screw for the panel. A trip to the junkyard may be in order. Probably won't find many 05's but Ill bet the same fasteners are out there somewhere.

I thought about the 2 part epoxy...but its so permanent...I think ill give silicone a shot. That stuff is always removable. If that doesnt work, then epoxy. thanks for the input guys

I was just mentioning you should let it dry completely w/out putting anything on/in it to later give the screw somthin' to merely "bite" into...

Its on a Nylon insert... he has to replace the "removed" material or buy a new one. If that loctite crystalizes or wicks up while drying/curing, It could do a lot of damage to the existing remnants of the insert....

I've seen too many pieces of plastic and nylon crumble to bits when that stuff fully cures... the Devcon or even the silicon should just act as a filler... If he needed to remake a hole after filling it then maybe a good drill/tap would be great!
