Thumbs up over drive switch

i have a 90 b2 with an automatic transmission with the electronic overdrive on the column (ie P-R-N-O.D-D-2-1). does anyone know how to rewire it so i can put the overdrive switch on the dash and get rid of the one on the column.

I know how to wire it up so that you can manually control the 3-4 shift when the selector is in O.D. I don't know that it's possible to eliminate one of those positions (you'd actually be eliminating the D position) on the selector.

The 3-4 shift solenoid circuit (and the TCC solenoid, for that matter) is a pretty simple DC circuit where the computer acts as a ground side switch. If you will allow yourself to keep both OD and D positions on the selector, it would be pretty easy to wire in a manual switch in place of the computer in the circuit.

How much detail do you need? You're basically replacing the computer (in this one circuit) with a switch of your own choosing. Get a wiring diagram to properly identify the 3-4 shift circuit/pin at the computer, cut the wire, and put your switch in (one lead to the solenoid, one lead to ground.
