Aerostar electrical problem unsolved

Hi...I have a 93 Ford Aerostar v6 3.0L. Last winter , I think it was the second week of january, it was raining a lot, enough to be carefull on the road because of the accumulation of water. Anyway at some point I could'nt stop because the other cars where to close behind me and I had to pass thru 4 or 5 inches of water. the next day it was 15 below zero and everything had frozen and what a mess it was. Then the problem begin...I start it and after maybe 10 seconds the ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES three time and then the RPM goes up for 5 second and then down maybe 250 rpm and run in an eratic maner like up and down. It was tested with a code reader and the results were inconclusive since no anomalies were found on the first test and on the second test there were connection errors and a bunch of other error codes.
This problem persist even today when it rain for two or three days non stop.
So I just hope that maybe someone somewhere , has been able to solve this or knows about the meaning of the three engine light flash because in the repair manual, they don't speak about it.

Thanks...Jossdomain

Joss!

This is the tipical problem of aeros. When you pass thru 4 or 5 inches of water fan blades contact water and water is everywhere... on coils, spark plugs, wires, hareness, connectors, sensors... Frozen water destroys them...
How to avoid it is the second quatiopn... The first - how to find a problem!

Usually there are no codes if PIP signal is not good ore you have problem with ignition

welcome joss to Aero FTE

sounds like ECU/PCM is switching into failsafe limp home mode aka Hardware Limited Operation Strategy (HLOS) mode due to sensor input failure, probably multiple due to connector corrosion....

take ECU connector off...examine for corrosion on pins and in sockets......clean with spray electrical cleaner....coat with dielectric grease (spark plug boot) type.....

do the same on all sensor electrical connections
start will O2 sensor, MAF and ECT sensor which are the most exposed culprits to corrosion spray

good luck

Thank you Pablo-UA and 96_4wdr .
In this case, cleaning all the connectors is the only thing to do since in good weather condition, everything works perfectly meaning that the sensors are not defective otherwise it would be a permanent condition.

Thanks Again...Joss

crankshaft sensor electrical connector is also exposed to road debris spray

Suunds Like To Me That Your Diagnostic Controller Still Thinks Its Running A Test, Did You Check Your Codes With A Jumper Wire, The Reving Up And Down Maybe An Idle Air Control Stickin And Maybe Your Motor Is Starving Air
