I have a 79 ford f150. I have a problem when i drove it and it got warm im guessing it would start spuddering and would die. sometimes it would start right back up and idle fine but not run under accerlation. So i changed the ignition module. seemed at first to work but then it did it again so i changed the fuel pump cause no fuel. after changing the fuel pump it started right away ran under idle i hit the accelerator and the truck died. I couldnt get it started again so i checked the spark and now i have no spark at the coil. What do you think it could be.
Nine times out of 10, no spark with Duraspark ignition is the module or the distributor pickup.
If you are getting 12 volts to the + side of the coil, check the neg side with test light while cranking and look for a off- on flash. Do you have power at the 2 wire plug at the module? One will have 12 volts with the key on (red wire) and the other will have 12 volts when cranking (white).
At the module, there are 4 wires.
green- which is the signal to the coil negative
black- module ground through distributor, having a poor ground can cause the module to fail
purple & orange- distributor pickup assy. Dennis may be able to help you with resistance specs if you need them.
