I just picked up a new reproduction bumper for the front of my '72 that got crunched. First thing I noticed is how light it was. Where the original bumper was 1/8" or 3/16" thick this new one is much lighter. It definately wouldn't hold up to any kind of hit. It looks nice but I am disappointed in the quality.
Is that what can be expected for repro bumpers? I bought this one from a local chrome plating shop...are the ones from LMC and Dennis Carpenter better quality?
I was at the pick-a-part on the weekend but all the bumpers like mine are in bad shape.
Do you think it would be possible that these thin reproductions are intended to go over the real bumper. My old one is too bent up to tell for sure but it looks like the repro is slightly wider then the original...the outside dimensions of the original is about the same as the inside of the repro.
