I just purchased a '97 explorer 4 door, 4WD with a 4.0L SOHC engine and 85k miles, and the rear sags a little unloaded, but when I put a trailer on it with only 1/2 max tounge weight, the rear sags a lot. What have people done to fix this? I have seen add a leafs, but I am not thrilled with this option. I have also seen additional springs with bushings. I am not sure what to do, short of replacing the springs, but do not want to have the same thing happen again.
Common problem, they tried to make it ride like a car.
I installed airlift bags on the rear, easy job and adjustable, we have a lot of rescue gear in the back and no sag @ 25psi, when we hook up to the flat bed trailer, we go to 45psi for a level ride, carrying a 92 exploder on the trailer....
