Road FINE ?

Guys can you help me out here? As most of you kow I wrecked my truck, my white truck. Not the daully.

I found a truck on the road today. It sign said 95, its a 4x2 and its a short bed, single side exit exhust ( looks factory ) and only 1 rear gas tank.

Up till now the only single tank I have seen was on a 4X4.

Any ideas?

Im guessing its a 300 6?

If there's only one filler neck, that pretty well tells the tale. Maybe dual tanks were just a really popular option.

Actually dual tanks was standard, single was optional. Except on regular cab short box 4x4's, where dual tanks weren't available.

One rear tank would be optional for a 4x2. Although it's not too common, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I see.

Well it just so happens that my 96 F-150 long bed has only one tank. Pictures in my gallery if you're really interested. Didn't realize it was such a rarity though.

Single tank on 4x2 short bed is not uncommon at all. Dual tanks were the option on 4x2 short bed standard cab, not single, at least in the southeastern US. I see a lot more trucks with one tank than I do with dual tanks. I can see where the dual tanks would be popular where it might be 300 miles to the next fuel stop, and that may have been the standard option for that area. There are two sizes of tank available for the short bed, though. I had a tank leak on mine when it was still new, and had to have it changed. The dealer wanted to put a 36 gallon tank on it, but I would have had to find another place to store the spare tire. Knowing how hard it is to get the spare tire out from under the truck, I figured it was safer from lazier would-be theives under there.

'92 F-150, 5.0L, M5OD, 136K.

I'm the OO on this truck.

Could be, but apparently it'll bolt right on in the same place the 18 gallon one is. But, like i said, when you do that, you move the spare tire. On the Bronco, wasn't the spare either mounted inside, or on a swing gate? All I know is they had to have a 18 gallon tank brought in from another dealer to warranty my leaky one. (Was leaking at the seam) I'm not too fond of pulling the spare up against the tank, but like I said, at least a lazy theif isn't going to bother with the spare.
