I don't have a manual yet and before i tear apart the dash, I was needing to know the color wires to connect for my gauges I bought a Boost,Trans temp,EGT besides the sender wires which i will need to place, they need :1 switched power, 1 switched lighted power, 1 ground any one know the color wire to connect these to and where they are located? mainly i just need to know where to find switched power and the lighted power. i can use a multimeter to find them but i have found it saves alot of time if i know in advance, thanks
while under the hood trying to figure out why my factory fogs are not working i found some wires taped back to the harness on the drivers side on the firewall. they are 14awg and color coded red, white, blue, black a total of 4wires does anyone know what these are for?

Those wires sound like the ones Ford put in for customer use. If they are, you should find the same wires taped back under the dash.
Still can't believe Ford would actually be courteous enough to do that, though now I hear they install extra circuits with switches for customer use(called upfitter switches).

thats exactly what i had found. while wiring up the guages i found the same wires under the dash labeled customer use PTO i guess for "power take off"?
and yes i also have the upfitter switches which are also in the same location under the dash and they are also labled. i just have not found a single use for them yet though... lol
I assume this is for the 2005? Where are you planning on mounting the gauges? That will determine sometimes what wires to grab for power.
The easiest place to grab power will be the fuse box. You can go get a "fuse tap" at the store and place it around a fuse that has key-on power.
The illumination wire will be blue with a red stripe. It can be found anywhere there is a factory light for the dash.
A ground can be found on any metal part of the dash underneath. If you happen to find a screw or a hole, just bolt the ground wire to that.
right, right, and right thanks for that tip the blue with red stripe did the trick i tied into it behind the headlamp switch. and i bought a fuse tap that i placed into the radio fuse place and the grounds are right next to the fuse panel...now comes the hard part of placing the senders....i have the cab wiring complete..
Would you have a reference of a 1999 F-350 wiring diagram that I could copy.
A friend is having different type of problems with his truck and I don't know how this thing is wired.
His cargo lamp stays on sometime and we have to pull a fuse to make it go off. We get door ajar on the dash and all doors are shut.
Also the tattle tale unit mounted in the roof, (temp, other topics) does not work. It will come on sometime, not often. The cruise control works most times but takes spells not to work. He also has the ABS light on, but don't know what is causing this.
I am thinking that something is common to all these circuits and would like to see a wiring diagram on this model truck.
Thanks for any help that you may be able to provide.
No I do not have much 1999 data at all.
I just happen to run across the 2005 wiring diagrams while looking for something else.
I have just about every thing from 1996 back, sorry.
