If I'm not mistaken the concave side will face the block. This will keep it from sticking out to far and jamming with your torque converter.

Ya, is it the right one. A plate for manual transmission is a lot thicker than one for an automatic. Heavier too.

Is it possible your torque converter pulled out of the transmission a little and isn't seating correctly? I"ve had that happed in the past, it locks things up solid when the trans is bolted up, but everything turns fine when you loosed the transmission. Take a look at how far the torque converter sits back in the bell housing when it's seated correctly, then make sure it doesn't move forward when you position the transmission and bolt everything up.
Good Luck!

If it wouldn't turn you couldn't get the bolts in the flywheel and the starter wouldn't make contact with it. Also, most likely would break the bellhousing, did it once myself.

manuals have Flywheels & automatics have flexplates.

I think kemicalburns was wondering if you had the correct flexplate for your application ?

There are many different parts per applications

Number of teeth
Distance of off-set
Mounting

all sorts of differences.

True and I stand corrected however, they both can be installed incorrectly if you try long and hard enough. Plates and Wheels are Series Specific and transmission too, right? I like to learn too.
