Which clutch are the manual shifters using on chipped strokers?

I have been looking everywhere for a good clutch with a higher tq rating. Just wondering what everyone else has done. I checked in with south bend clutch they said they can build whatever I need. Any help would be appreciated.

I've used South Bend with great results. Before I started pulling I used the CON OFE. At that time I was at 400 rwh. Never jerky even when towing. I'm now on my second twin disc SB. You can call Larry to get price and more info..

So I should go with the solid flywheel rather than sticking with the dual mass. How does the solid flywheel act compared to the stock dual clutch?

If you have a 99-03 it is a solid flywheel.

Oh you mean My truck already has a solid flywheel or that's the clutch that I need? I thought it had the dual mass.

It already has a solid flywheel. If I remember correctly SB has a replacement available to fit your stock flywheel. Not sure it is available for higher hp levels.

Hey Kevin thanks for all the help. Is Larry at discount power parts or south bend? What would you suggest as some basic mods to do while I got some time off? I read something about different bolts for the 7.3 cause stock ones won't hold over 400hp. What about this 10k or 18k mod? Which one is best and can I run that with my chipwithout any problems? Just looking for ideas to keep me busy for two weeks.

Larry is at http://www.discountpowerparts.com/. Before we talk mods you need to make sure what rods are in your engine by looking here. http://www.dieselinnovations.com/gal...spection_hole/
If you have forged they will take a lot more power. The powdered metal rods are brittle and you have to be real carefull. Also do you have gauges?

Yeah I have guages that was the first thing I did a long time ago. Could a ford dealer tell me what rods are in the truck using the serial or vin?

No. The inspection hole is easy to get to.

Okay thanks again for all the help. I'll have to look at it later. Gotta go to work until wed. at least. Looks like you gotta drain the oil and take the pan off so I'll need more time than what I have right now. If I do have the forged rods what were you thinking about the mods. I heard the 18k shouldn't be used with a chip because it messes with stuff the chip might already be doing.

no as a matter of fact you dont need to do any of that. i do not have any 5/16" drive ratchets or anything like that, so i ground four edges on a bolt until i got it the right size. then put a set of vise grips on the bolt and screw out the plug. it's very easy to do. no oil comes out or anything. the hardest part is getting the lighting right with a mirror to see the rod. you will have to get someone to bump the ignition for you to turn the engine over little by little (or you can turn the crank by hand if you want ) until it comes into view. i hit the starter 6 or 7 times until i saw i had bolts instead of a stud and nut.

it looks like you need to remove the pan, only because that writeup was done on an engine out of the truck that had the pan off ready for a teardown. no oil comes out of the hole, the oil level is way below the pan rail.
