'05 6spd gear grind
With increasing frequency over the last few months though the gears have begun to seriously grind during the gear change, unless the shifter is in just exactly the right position. Fortunately I still have lots of warranty left, but I was wondering first if anyone had any thoughts about it.
There's no problem with any other gears, and if I shift at a little lower rpm there's no particular problem, and also no problem if I just work from 2nd to 3rd, and then 3rd to 4th or OD.
Please note this is not a problem with the clutch pedal not being fully depressed - its all the way to the floorboard. Would this be a syncro problem, or does the clutch just need adjusting?
I'd appreciate any observations.
In my 02 6spd ,there was a synchro noise going into 3rd when it was new,
Dealer pulled the tranny and found that the endplay in the main shaft was not setup correctly from the factory(ZF factory) not ford.
The replaced the synchro and redid the end play all is well ,my son owns it now.
We run mobil 1 with 1 bottle of fords friction modifier in it.
We change every 30k ,he now has 90k on it

I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised if the dealership I bought the truck from has the expertise to fix transmissions, but who knows, maybe there's some old fart there (.... that would be - my age) with the experience base to tear into it. I just doubt it.
Anyway, as long as it doesn't deteriorate too quickly, I'll probably wait til fall to take it in, just 'cause it'll be more convenient and I'll baby it until then....
By the way , the fluid is fine, but thanks for the suggestion...
