will do dont hear many people with this problem. Held the brake while on the throttle and it was fine, driving down road and started again. Put it in reverse and it acked like I didnt hit the pedal and rpms went up.

Sounds like you throttle pedal assembly is going south. I had the throttle pedal act up about a year and a half ago. Sometimes while backing out of the garage or upon start up, I would lose the throttle. Other times, the idle validation part of the TPS switch would stick and keep my relay activated 10k mod engaged causing a rough idle. Before I changed out the pedal assembly, I also had a surge going down the road. With the 10k resistor on, the surge was more noticable. Been problem free since the pedal assembly was replaced.

Red face

I just had a week of trouble for that, no response at throttle, at first I just stabbed the pedal a few times and it magically worked again. But at that moment I was idling in driveway and was shocked I couldnt move. The Oh Oh factor kicked in! All day no problem. Next Morning start up and same thing NO -GO ...tickled the wire harness and got some response so I assumed it was a faulty connection( just at the left of throttle pedal on top) Was releived to make all my trips and get back home. 2nd of July and all thru the holiday was real bad couldnt get 100 yds wigglin the wire didnt help but for a sec so by now wire had shorted. Just took in to Dealer Wenesday, they said covered under engine drive train warranty 100,000 so I just pay the deductible. Feel like I got treated right for a change ..we'll see when I git er today. about 71,000 miles now, only cps at 60k until now. Stayed tuned for the next exciting adventure ....LOL

you can get a new pedal assembly for about $125 from powerstrokeshop.com, it has both sensors on there that can cause problems

My pedal assembly has been replaced twice for the same problem. Certain '01-'02 models had a recall that expired over a year ago. So yeah, it's a common problem. Your dealer should be able to replace it and road test in 30 minutes tops.

Hi guys, first time replying. I had the same problem with my 1999 7.3, it was real bad in parking lots (kinda scary) but it would do it on the interstate to. To see if the throttle sensor is bad all i did was go to the interstate and drive till it started to do it, then i would turn on my cruse control. Since it is a fly by wire, it would stop when it was on... So that was a good test for me, and one new assembly fixed the prob. Just a cheep way to test, just my two cents worth...

So did they replace the whole TPS, or just repair the wire?

When the throttle assembly goes bad, it will flash the SES light for a very quick second. That's all it takes to store a code.

Got my truck back as promised ...only 1 C note deductible. Pedal assembly had previously been replaced on recall I owned the vehicle then too. At that time no problem was occurring. The dealer just asked me too come on down and let them perform the recall R&R.... funny thing old was good ...new is bad ...LOL. Well I am glad they got er done and in addition they fixed the loose connector under the valce cover that controls the injectors. I thought I felt a lil stumble / miss now and then as I idled at a stop. All is good now I feel great not taking the wife's Honda...thought I was gonna geit squashed like a bug....
