I want to swap a 390 I have in a 69 F100 2wd into a 76 F100 2wd. I've heard that the frame widths are different. Is this all around or under the bed? I currently have 302 perches in the 76 and I know they won't work. I wonder if I need to get 73-76 Fe perches, or whether the FE perches in my 69 will work?
Barry move the perches with the engine. If you are adding, or will be adding power steering grab a left perch from a 360 with ps. It is angled differently for the steering gear.
In 73 Ford widened the chassis behind the cab, and used a longer rear axle, so that the rear track would be as wide as the front. The wheel base, and the chassis was extended about four in. There are also some different elevations at mount points as well. An older cab will not fit without mods.
