I have been told I need to replace the MAP sensor on my 1998 ranger to fix idling problems that I have.
I need to know where the MAP sensor is located...and how difficult is it to replace. How will I know I have found the right part when I am looking at it?
As said, clean the MAF sensor. Also try cleaning the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve on the side of the throttle body.
Go to your local Autozone or the like and have the codes pulled. Most places will do this for free. Bring us the codes, it's easier for us to go from there.
Thanks for all the help...I cleaned the MAF sensor and the IAC vavle. Truck is idling fine and actually running better too X 2 days. I hope this has solved my problem....if not, I will surely return to this most informative site for further research. Again, thanks for all the help...and hopefully some savings in shop bills.
