Grind under load
I've got a '99 Expedition with the 5.4L AWD. A problem has come up. Cruising down the road at any speed all is fine. But when the rig comes under a load such as a hill or quick acceleration to pass, there is a heck of a vibration or grind in the floor board. The tranny shifts up/down fine.
Just curious what your thoughts might be on this. Torque convertor? Transfer case?

When I read of the transmission shutter, I thought what I was experiencing was more than a shutter. But now that you mention rumble bars, I believe that is an excellent analogy of what I've got.
