My truck seems to have become a dog until it warms up. Initially, I thought it was related to cooler weather, but now that we are in the middle of summer, that is obviously not the cause. Have had it into the dealer twice...they replaced the turbo and a couple of injectors, but I can't tell that much has changed. When I say it is a dog...I mean it can't even climb a steep hill.
I just dropped mine off at the stealership this morning for the same problem. So get this...here I am bragging about how cool my ex is a few months ago...go in and enjoy the party...come out 6 hours later, fire it up and the damn thing wouldn't even back out of the driveway! I had to let it warm up for about 15 min then mash the pedal to get it out of the driveway. Once its warmed up its fine, goes like a cheeta on cocaine. I don't even try to pull the boat out of the water without letting it warm up. Doubt it would pull the boat trailer up the ramp cold. Anyway I had engine oil leaking and dripping from the bell housing so I thought it would be a good time to get it all done at once. Mine is a 6.0 by the way. Ill let you know the outcome...
Same problem here. Only happens occasionally. Totally gutless, no turbo sound, until after 5-10minutes of warmup, then WHAM! ZING! the spinach has kicked in.
Tech figures the turbo is sticking and ready to die. Also thought it might be related to the the EGR (how?) so now that I've got a new EGR for the past week he wants to see if it happens again. Actually hasn't happened since.
Took the ex in yesterday morning to Harrold Ford in Sac, and by 2 pm the sevice writer called me to let me know that the tech replaced two bad injectors and the turbo. He asked if it would be alright to keep it overnight so they can cold soak it to make sure the problem is licked. Thats my update, let you know if its any better when I get it back. Anyone know if the'll let me keep the old parts, or do they have to turn them in for warranty return? I do love to tear stuff apart

2 injectors and a turbo was what my dealer did the first time. When I went back, they said it seemed to run fine...but it still is the same, other than for the fact that the turbo is noticably louder.
sorry it took so long to post. Got the Ex back on Thursday. The tech put it on the computer and test drove it cold. It detected 3 more missfires, and three more injectors were replaced. So it got a total of 4 injectors and a turbo. Problem fixed. Did the tech cold soak your Ex before checking for injector problems? Like I said 3 bad injectors didn't show up untill the engine was cold.
I don't recall whether or not they cold checked it or not. I guess I will be taking it back in, as soon as I can stand to part with it for a couple of days.
