welded front and spooled rear. A friend of mine with his samurai buggy got me out. He chained his buggy to a big tree and then used his winch to pull me out, all the while I was in reverse and had the pedal to the floor. Eventually we made it out.
That mud hole has no bottom, it's about 25 yards from the colorado river and sometimes the river floods the whole area. Your tires dig down until you let of the gas! We had a guy on 44's there once and his truck got stuck maybe 30 ft away from where I got stuck. His 800hp motor had him burried down to the filler of his tank/quarterpanel in about 3 sec.
Nice trail Bronc! I'm going to be picking up my 79 in a week and hope to have it looking as good as yours by next summer (minus the tree rash). How do you like the fuel cell? And do you have your tailgate off for good or just trail days?
Front axle doesn't like the 460engine/35"tire/my lead foot combo to much. I already broke 2. I'm going with cromoly now.
That hole is as deep as you dig it, but I'd say I was about 4 feet down.
I love the fuel cell. It's not in the way of rocks, like the old fuel tank was and it doesn't rust. My tailgate is off for good. That thing ways about a ton and a half. It's a trail rig only, so I took everything off that I don't need. Doors, top, interior, rear bench seat, tailgate, dash
TX460, I just now noticed the jokers on your hood, as the only visions I've had of your Bronco were a cloud of dust. That Bronco is a beast of a trail rig, I'm surprised you got it stuck in that quicksand!!! Nice pics, JSM84
Was that on property of yours/friend's? I'd like to know where you guys go trailing/mudding. My parents have property but they'd kill me for tearing it up. Also, is an occasional go of mudding bad for an everyday driven vehicle?

It depends on what you do....
If you see a little puddle/hole, and make a couple passes through it, no harm done. Even a ditch or two isn't too bad, but don't beat on it.
IF you decide you want to jump a levee while hitting it at 50 mph, then that's bad for a dedicated off roader much less a daily driver.
