$500 for a CPS replacement is why we call them "Stealerships". even from ford, the part is only $250. you can go to the International dealer, get one for half of that, or even buy a new one off ebay for $70, but you would have to wait for it to come in.

if you look on the crankshaft from the bottom of the truck, it is in the 10 o clock position from the front. here is a picture of it.

you can install it yourself in 10 minutes or less with a 10mm socket..

just like strokin said. Ebay if you have the time to wait. Even if you pay extra to overnight it usually it is cheaper. Or international. It is easy to replace and save yourself a good chunk of change for other fun stuff to do to your truck. f Goodluck

Yep. Slide that connector off and remove the 10mm bolt holding the pointer on and pop the sensor out.

With the fan installed on the pump it's easiest to access it from under the truck.

Does he swallow too? I got mine for under $110 and that included tax and no haggling at the International dealership. If you want to pay me for shipping I could next day one to you tomorrow. Still better than $490

the part you are looking for is the timing indicator arrow. Use a 3/8 ratchet with short extension and 6 pt socket (10mm) to remove and reinstall with some o ring lube or motor oil on the o ring. The wire is held in with plastic retention lock. Lift the lock and pull apart. Wiggle the sensor when removing from the front cover. Its probably the original so it may be stuck but will come out with some coaxing. Its designed to go back together easily.

If you can't wait go to Autozone or O'rilleys $130. I bought mine of ebay for $61 including shipping.

No fuse pulling is necessary.

CPS Replaced

I had several online communication in regards to my CPS and what my 2000 F350, 7.3 was doing....well I replaced my CPS and it is still doing the same thing. Intermittent Stalling, dying, no throttle reponse. This happens for about the first 2 to 3 dyings and startings. Any other ideas to what else might be the problem???
