Help - 4R100 problems
I just recently changed my tranny fluid. This was the second time I've done it. I may have made a big mistake.
After draining the pan, torque converter and changing the filter I began to put in the reco'd amount of Mercon fluid through the dipstick. I remembered having to start the motor after every 4-5 quarts to move the liquid from the pan into the torque converter. However, I also at the time thought it would be best to cycle through the gears to help it out. This may have been my mistake. After getting the fluid level correct I noticed on my initial drive the vehicle began surging very bad to the point of almost stalling.
Eventually after getting around the block the problem got better. However, about once a week after a cold startup the truck exhibits the same problem for about 10-15 seconds and then the problem gets better.Could I have seriously damaged the tranny? I am not sure what to do at this point. By the way, I have a '01 F-250 V8 superduty with ~98,000 miles. I bought this truck brand new and plan on running it till it rusts out.
