install help...please

I have done searches and came up with conflicting answers. I just ordered my gauges today, boost, exhaust temp., and tranny temp. From what i have found on here and the sites users directed me to with instructions they have said conflicting things on how to drill and tap the holes. One site says to use grease or lube to collect the shavings, one says to start small and work your way up in drill bits, on says not to drill any pilot holes, one says not to use and lube. Guess i am concerned about getting metal shavings in the manifold when i drill and tap the holes for the sensors. Any advice on what method and why would be great. Thanks in advance for any advice that will save me an expensive mistake.

I'm no metal working expert myself but i found the job very easy. Just use a center punch and drill a pilot hole for a guide. I used a muli-sized (conical) drill
bit and drilled SLOWLY until i reached the correct hole diameter for my tap.
Then i used a shop vac to suck out the shavings. No problems works great. Anything left behind will probably be small enough to pass thru the turbine without harm. Never heard of anyone trashing a turbo after installing a pyro.

just what nut said. use a center punch first so the drill does not walk then use smaller drill bits and work your way up the the .339 drill. i diddnt use grease because it can stick inside the manifold with the shavings in it and you wouldnt get them out. once i was done drilling i used a telescoping magnet to get most of the chips out and then i used a shop vac. anything left will be small enough to pass through the turbo safely

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the advice. It puts me a little more at ease with doing this. I don't have a problem drilling the hole and tapping it i was just a little concerned about what i read with the metal shavings. I guess i'll get busy now. Thanks again
