well when i drive at night with amber glasses on i swear i can see in the dark, i live in a rual area and never wished for brighter lights.amber glasses are a life saver in rainy weather as well, just my 2 cnts
I looked for Catz on racerX recommendation. I ended up getting a set from www.xtralights.com. My buddy has them in his 06 F350. They have a few different colors to choose from. I am really impressed with the difference in how bright they are. I went with the 8000K lights, They call it deep blue, but they shine bright white on the road. I cant wait to get my new 2005 headlights so I can finish my 2005 conversion and use my lights.
You get what you pay for. I went this way because of the waterproof connections. I love mudding. Happy shopping
ohh yeah, there are a lot of people that say they are a waste of money because your headlights are not designed for them, but I have seen the difference and its dramatic. At that point I do not care if they are not getting the most out if the lights. ITS A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN STOCK!
I was never questioning the light output, they should look great from inside the cab. Its the ability of the crappy reflector to control all that light. Shine the lights on a solid color wall and you *should* get a solid line with Light/Dark. I would be interested to see what the cut-off looks like. Anyone with a drop in kit willing to take some pics for us?? Any light "spill" is going right into other driver's eyes.
brian, that must be a new model kit then. i have not seen them yet. i have had my kit for about over 3 years now. mine look just like a conventional bulbwith a harness attached to them. it also came with a seperate box that controls the arc inside the bulb when the high beams are switched on. you can actually hear and see the arc move inside the bulb when you switch them. oh, beam pattern, RIGHT ON TARGET. i need to see if anyone has modified the 05/06 headlight housing so it accepts the 9007 bulb. i did the conversion to the 06 SD with the chrome package grill. but i still have my 01 headlights. i dont want to loose my HID's. nobody stocks the new style housing around me, so i cant see if it can be done easily. and then, and only then, will i have to worry about beam patterns.
