axle code ?

axle code ?
i just took a look at the rear axle code on my 86 bronco and wanted to see if someone can tell me what it reads i know it has a 9" rear but i really cant figure out what the ratio is or what the 6E stands for so here is what i got from it thanks for the help!! S31

Just to say, you could of used the edit function at the bottom right of your post to fix it up to an hour after you posted it.
Could you double check those numbers, usually they'd read more like
S3L50 9 6E or
S3.50 9 6E
Most 73-79 1/2 ton 4x4s had 3.50 gears and I want to say most 80-96 1/2 ton 4x4s have 3.54 or 3.55 gears.

well i just double checked the numbers on the rear and they are S31 50 9 6E thats weird because ive done research on here and i see alot of ones with the ones you have listed. im just wondering if the rear might of been swapped out for some other one but i dont know what other ones would have them numbers.

yea thats what i thaught also ive never heard of any of them on a bronco so im kinda lost right now

Sorry about this, I go in and out of the 73-79 truck forum and bronco forum, and I thought I was in the truck forum.
Every Bronco I've seen has come with 3.50 gears(78 79), and 3.54 and 3.55 gears(80-96).
