Lightning Wheels

I have been wondering if '93 to '96 Lightning wheels would work on my '71 4X2 F100. Now I see a company has come out with '99 style 18X9.5" in the '91 to '96 offset (0) and 5X5.5 bolt circle. Backspacing is 5.23. I'm guessing that if the older style wheel would work, probably the new one would also.
Has anyone tried to fit the old Lightning wheels to a similar application?

I am told that the factory wheels are the same bolt pattern up to '96. So they should bolt up. But as far as having enough room to turn without them rubbing - that I don't know.
