Well I just want to say that I unpluged the red hose and don't shorten the rod. Noticed a difference in it spooling up quicker. I also took off the insulation on my intercooler tube, on the hot side. Makes a bit of a difference in hearing the turbo spool up. I want more!! Should I get a wicked wheel? I want it to scream.
Scream...yup....when u put that motor under heavy load that
WW sounds so cool!
Want to hear that exhaust turbine whistle too? Remove the stock muffler.

My truck already had the muffler removed when I bought it. I did the kwik mod awhile back and removed the insulation on the driver's i/cooler pipe over the weekend. I unplugged the wastegate the other day as well after reading this thread.
It has a noticeable seat of the pants feel, and the whistle is louder and more high pitched than it was before. I plan to do the WW when I take the turbo off to redo the gaskets on the manifolds and up-pipes/y-pipe.
It sounds more like my dad's old 95 PSD that he had years ago.
Had to be from the "un-plug". I ran 3 tanks of fuel thru and fuel mileage suffered, reconnected and fuel mileage went to where it was previous the unplug. Have no idea why but when I posted about this approx 1 year ago some others had the same results. Check this out: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=451525
how do you shorten the wastegate rod??? i umplugged the red hose and made about 4 lbs of boost more but i quickly threw a code so i plugged it back in until it reset
i have a couple of questions... first off is approximately how much boost can you get out of these turbos, i have a banks upgradeded turbo with a banks intercooler and with a programmer i boost be tween 22 - 25 pound and 26 pounds with the red tube un plugged 27 if im lucky, i also have the big head waste gate 4" exhaust turbo back airade in take 75 hp injectors. My next question is how do you keep the code from popping up. Finally how can i get more boost or can i not get more than that.

The connecting rod screws into the threaded sleeve that's attached to the wastegate arm. Turn the rod CW with vice grips to tighten.

30psi is about all your going to safely get. The boost relief valve installed in the MAP lline will prevent the code popping up.
do you have any sugestions why im not getting close to 30 psi and how i could get up that high
You'll need a chip and to load the engine pretty good. Having a boot leak isn't going to help. My boost max's
out around 25 psi and i have done the CCV mod,80hp chip, filed my 5way intake manifold pipe surface irregularities
and changed out my stock wheel to the WW.
